You should quit smoking right now. Seriously.
They did a study once, in which they had 2 groups of different smokers who tried to quit. The one group had an elaborate plan. They prepared for their quit and they set a big quit date and they marked it on their calendar and they became ready to quit. They planned out their quitting strategy and they might have even went to their doctor in advance and asked for help. They might have received advice, medication to help them quit, quit smoking products to help them, or whatever. They had a plan, and then they attempted to quit smoking.
The other group in the study just quit smoking on a whim. They did not have a plan and they did not know the day before that they were going to try and quit smoking the next day. It was a snap decision that they made with no prior planning whatsoever.
Guess which group did better in the long run? The non-planners did. The people who just made a snap decision to quit all of a sudden fared better than those who made an elaborate plan.
So what does this mean for you? It means you should just quit. Quit right now. Don’t even smoke a final farewell cigarette. Put it down, put it out, throw it away. Gather up your ashtrays and remaining smokes right now and go toss them. Run water over the smokes before you throw them in the trash. Throw your lighters away too.
Do it right now. Get up, stop reading this article, and go do it. Throw it all away this very second. If you want spontaneous, then get radical. Stop reading and start quitting.
What if you never smoke again? What if this is really it? I quit smoking almost 4 years ago and I have since saved almost $7,000 dollars by not smoking. That is also over 90 days of continuous smoking total, time I would have spent in the act of smoking but have since reclaimed as my own. This is huge.
If you want results like these then just quit. Do it right now. You have no excuses. I just proved to you, by virtue of that study, that your chances of succeeding are greater if you quit on a complete whim. Don’t think that you need a big plan. That is a foolish strategy and it fails for so many people. If you want to do it, then just quit. Right now. This very second.
Do it now!
