There are only a couple of stop smoking medications on the market today and might be able to help you with quitting smoking.  In some cases they might not or they might have adverse side effects that prevent you from taking them.  At any rate, they are probably worth talking to your doctor about if you are still smoking cigarettes.

Some people wonder: “Should I take a pill to help me stop smoking?”  They wonder if it is really necessary to do so, and if they might be doing more harm than good by subjecting themselves to medication.

This is the most ridiculous line of reasoning that you can imagine and it can only exist in a state of extreme denial.  If you seriously question the cost/benefit equation regarding a quit smoking medication, then you must not be fully educated on how bad smoking is for you, and you are probably also minimizing the cost that you are paying when you continue to smoke.

News flash for those hesitant to go to any length in order to quit smoking: cigarettes are killing you, probably an average of 10 to 15 years early, and they cost you over a hundred thousand dollars over your entire life if you smoke until you die.  That is the cost of the smokes plus medical expenses incurred due to smoking.  Not to mention that your quality if life is going to be in the toilet, especially as you age.

The urgency with which you should try to quit smoking should be of a seriously desperate nature.  If they had a stop smoking pill that cost several thousand dollars per month and you had to take it for a year, it would still be worth it if the pill actually worked.

What I am saying here is that you should be willing to go to extreme lengths to quit smoking, and that includes a willingness to try different techniques to quit smoking.  If you have excuses as to why you don’t want to take a quit smoking pill, then you are basically saying “I would rather continue to smoke and just die 15 years early, than to take a risk on some side effects from this new pill.”  This is denial.  It is also really stupid.

Smoking is not just some risk…it is a sure thing.  It is a sure death.  Keep smoking, and it will kill you for sure.  There is no risk involved, because it is a certain killer.  You need to find a solution to help you quit with the desperation of someone who knows that they are dying.
