Massive Benefits if You Stop Smoking Cigarettes

Most smokers seriously underestimate the benefits of quitting smoking.  They do not realize just how awesome the experience is because they are caught up in the addiction to nicotine.

For example, did you realize that a pack-a-day smoker spends about a full month out of each year engaged in the act of smoking itself?  A full month!  Think of all the lost time and productivity there.

Imagine if you are a non-smoker, and someone declares that over the course of the next year, you have to stop what you are doing approximately every hour of your waking day and go stand outside for seven minutes.  They would also declare of course that these series of breaks would add up to an entire month’s worth of time over the course of a year.  If someone suggested this you would think they are nuts.  But this is exactly what we do as smokers, and this is exactly how much time we sacrifice.

Keep in mind that this is just the time spent physically engaged in the act of smoking.  There is also a lot of time and energy that we spend mentally engaged concerning our addiction.  If we are in a situation where we can’t smoke we think about it constantly.  And if we run out of cigarettes we think about getting more constantly until we can finally purchase some more.  You can reclaim all of this extra time and energy when you finally quit.

There are other hidden gifts as well when you quit smoking cigarettes.  One of these is the taste of food that returns in full force.  Smokers do not even realize that they are missing out on a phenomenal amount of taste because they have destroyed their taste buds.

Another gift you receive when you quit is the gift of breathing.  With the smokers cough gone from your life, you can finally draw a full breath and even start exercising and feeling good about yourself again.  In fact, this is a very good technique for quitting because the dopamine your body produces during exercise is very similar to the chemicals that the Nicotine releases in your system.

Perhaps the icing on the cake is that most smokers die an average of 5 to 15 years early, and those who quit–even if they quit very late in life–can knock this number down considerably.  Can you really put a price on 10 years of your life?  What is that actually worth to you?  Are you willing to give up smoking in order to gain those potential 10 years back?
