Does quit smoking hypnosis really work? Yes and no.
Basically it will work if you want it to work. That is the bottom line but do recognize that it will give you a noticeable boost in your ability to quit smoking if you want it.
I found this to be untrue with other quitting smoking techniques, such as the patch and the gum. I wanted to quit smoking very badly, and had made a firm commitment with myself to do so. Then I bought some patches, ground out my last butt, and started on my new adventure.
It didn’t work. Quitting with the patch did not work for me. Neither did quitting with the gum or any other technique I seemed to try.
My friend was a hard core smoker for over 20 years straight and he decided to get hypnotized in order to quit smoking. He made a firm decision and thought that it was genuinely time to quit. He had thought about it a lot and he also had some failed attempts under his belt. He had tried simple cold turkey quitting in the past and it had failed for him. He also experimented with nicotine replacement products and decided that they did not really help and he still felt the urge to smoke while on them. The bottom line is that my friend was able to quit smoking after hypnosis and he has not had a cigarette for several years now.
If you do not really, truly, and deeply wish to stop smoking, then do not waste your money on hypnosis. It will not help you and your money will be completely wasted. But if you genuinely want to quit, then this can be a powerful tool to help you.
Most quitting smoking methods that build on strong cold turkey tactics tend to do well. Hypnosis is therefore a supplemental quitting tactic that can essentially help a cold turkey quitter. Most people do not believe that cold turkey is a good method for quitting but actually it is the best method and has the highest rate of long term success. Those who quit successfully with the patch and the gum are over twice as likely to relapse as a cold turkey quitter after you go out about six months ahead. In other words, less of the cold turkey people make it, but those who do are more likely to stay quit.
Hypnosis helps you get through the initial hump and gets you into long term quitting. It supplements your desire to quit, but it does not replace it.
