Should You Stop Smoking?

You might really enjoy smoking cigarettes and some day come to ask yourself the question: why stop smoking?  In reality there is a huge laundry list of crap that you have heard over and over again about your health and your ability to taste foods and not smell like stale smoke and so on.  But push all that aside for a moment and realize that you are not going to actually quit smoking for any of those reasons, nor should you necessarily.  You should quit smoking because you want to quit smoking.  Period.  And guess what?  That is the only way it is going to work.

You might try out the gum, the patch, or even an Electronic Cigarette in order to break the habit.  But in reality the only thing that matters is your conviction to actually stop smoking for your own self….not for anyone else and not for some vague health reasons that are not even affecting you in the least right now.  If you really want to stop smoking then you are going to have to surrender to the addiction on a very deep level and then make a serious decision deep inside of yourself.  This can only be done on a personal and individual level.  I have tried to quit smoking with others in the past and it never worked.  You can only quit for yourself, by yourself.  That is the only way.  Sure, there is support you might get from others….but if you drag them into your equation of success, then you are asking for trouble.  All they can do is complicate you.

Should you stop smoking?  Duh.  You knew that back when you were ten years old.  But are you willing to quit for yourself, and not just because everyone says it is the right thing to do?  But really quit…for you?
