Will a Stop Smoking Pill Work for You?

Many people who still smoke cigarettes wonder if a stop smoking pill might work for them.  The answer is obviously going to vary depending on the person and their unique situation.  I would encourage anyone who is even remotely curious as to whether or not medication can help them with this to talk with their doctor, first and foremost.

Get the conversation started and good things may happen.  You cannot imagine the benefits of quitting smoking until you have experienced them over the course of a few years.  The vast improvements in health, energy levels, ability to taste, money saved, and so on will just blow you away.  You will curse yourself for not quitting sooner!

So the bottom line is that anyone should look into quit smoking pills if they think that it might help them.  It is a waste of time and money to continue to smoke cigarettes.  It is a waste of time and money to NOT experiment with different quitting methods.

Say you try the nicotine patch and it fails for you.  You return to smoking a pack a day.  Now because of your “failure” with the nicotine patch, should you be any less aggressive in moving on to the next quit smoking strategy, idea, or gimmick?  Simply because you tried the patch and you failed?

You should you then give up on the idea of using Chantix?  Or Zyban?  Or some weird herbal pills that are supposed to help?

If you fail at quitting smoking, you have to try again.  If you try something and it does not work for you, try something else.  This should be obvious to the quitter, but we get emotionally caught up sometimes because we get down on ourselves after a failed quit attempt.  This is ridiculous and you have to push yourself to get back on the horse and try again.

The absolute worse thing in the world, the worst thing, by far, for a smoker to do, is to simply say “I failed at quitting.  I am just going to smoke.”

Don’t ever, ever do that.  If you are doing that now, stop immediately.  My life changed when I realized that this was a failed strategy.  My life changed when I made a promise to myself that I would never stop trying to quit smoking.  It was then that I made a plan for myself that finally worked.

You want to try the pills?  I say try ‘em.  They have worked for thousands of people and they might work for you.

The payoff is worth it.
